WiB: Looking Ahead and Reminiscing

After an eventful year of panel discussions, guest speakers and mingling sessions, HKUST Women in Business is now ready to kickstart 2021 on a reminiscent note while also planning ahead for the many activities that are yet to come!

An affiliate of the Women Faculty Association at HKUST, Women in Business (aka WiB) was established in 2020 and aims to connect HKUST female students with the right resources to

develop their entrepreneurial skills and mindset, as well as integrate local and international culture to create empowerment.

The Past Year

We've had a gamut of informative and fun- filled activities that were organised for our members. Check out the highlights below:

Project Leadership Programme (PLP)

We offered a one-semester program for our members to create their own projects

(business or non-profits), during which they could receive mentorships

and guidance from successful women in business!

Girls' Day Out

With their weekly matches, participating members can grab a meal or have

a coffee chat to get to know each other more personally. The program was launched with the

purpose of fostering a sense of belonging to a safe community where members can lean on

each other for support.

#RealTalk: What's Stressing You Out?

A past event where we shared methods to alleviate stress, was a judgment-free zone where members openly shared their thoughts and concerns in life.

#RealTalk: WiB x paUST

A past collaboration with paUST, a student-led initiative emphasising mental health awareness. This event reminded us that failure is completely normal and necessary for growth!

Guest Speakers and Panel Discussions

We had the pleasure to kickstart our Panel Discussion series, #BehindClosedDoors with the Female Corporate Leaders Edition, with Ms. Vickie Yue (Chief Corporate Strategy Manager at MTR Corp), Ms. Simpirwati Simarno (General Manager of

Louis Vuitton Indonesia and Malaysia), Ms. Maria Hui (Director of Marketing and Operations (COO) of Microsoft, Hong Kong) and Ms. Agustina Samara (Chief People and Corporate Strategy of DANA Indonesia) who truly inspired us with their stories on how they built their careers and were a pleasure to connect with!

Besides this, our Female Startup Leaders edition was a real eye- opener with Ms. Aurelie Wen (CEO APAC at Agorize) and Ms Delphine Lefay (CEO and Co-Founder of OnTheList) talking about their experiences and insights on prevalent business issues.

2021: The Upcoming Session

IWD Annual Conference

For International Women's Day, we will hold a three-day event which will be an annual conference with an attractive line-up of intense discussions, events and guest speakers.

Networking Opportunities

We will partner with women-in-business related organisations in other universities to give WiB members the cultural exposure they seek and consider different facets to what it's like being a woman in the corporate world.

Other fun stuff!

Special merchandise discounts, more career opportunities, podcast series, volunteering opportunities and more await our prospective members.

Stay tuned for all these events and many more to come!

We look forward to receiving incoming members and endowing them with new experiences with utmost enthusiasm :D
