Welcome back to a new academic year! This is a fresh start! So, if you have not been satisfied with how your previous semester or summer went, don’t worry. Everyone is constantly learning and growing… and so is WiB!
This year we have a lot in place for all of our new and continuing members. As a team, we have agreed that our vision is “to deliver value-adding experiences to our society and beyond”. We aim to do this by focusing on the four pillars:
Brand Awareness
We hope to make WiB a representative of empowerment within all communities.
Create a positive impression and impact on all our partners and members.
Community Building
Provide an encouraging and supportive environment for our members to share and gain experience, while building life-long relationships with one another.
Skilling
Provide resources for every member to gain awareness about enhancing one’s university life as well as life after university.
Make all our members proficient in starting and managing their professional careers while equipping them with the resources necessary to do so.
Wellness
Encourage unhindered conversation among all departments and members.

Needless to say, we cannot miss out on WiB Missions for this year. These three missions will be the baseline which guides the direction we head toward as a team.
Objective 1: To empower women to become leaders of business.
According to an article posted by HKUST, in 2020, the HKUST Business School has shown the greatest improvement in their gender balance with a 7% leap in female student intake (37% Female / 63% Male). Our aim is to use this opportunity to optimize resources for students in HKUST and empower them to reach self-actualisation, as well as educate them to stimulate greater change.
Objective 2: To introduce young, aspiring executives to leading professionals in a variety of industries.
Similar to many other business societies on campus, we focus on encouraging students to unlock their talent and explore their passions. The Executive Committee will coordinate activities which introduce our members to leading professionals in various industries that match their goals and values.
Objective 3: To close the gender gap in leadership.
Our goal is to encourage more female students to pursue their goals- while educating our members to make a difference. As women still face discrimination in both work and personal life, our society aims to help students equip themselves with the necessary skills and qualities to persevere and thrive in the real world while encouraging others to do the same.
Blog & Podcast
Focusing on the blogs, this year, the editor's team really put an emphasis to provide an array of unique and intriguing discussions through the blog and podcasts! Through these two platforms, we will focus on cultivating a community where both the readers and listeners can gain advice and insights on various topics. There will be more interactions and interviews to provide greater insight and personal opinions.
